Talking to Your Patients About Menopause

Your patients will have many questions about menopause and decisions to make about treatments. And they will look to their healthcare professional for guidance.

As you know, estrogen therapy can be an effective treatment for moderate to severe hot flashes, night sweats and vaginal atrophy and dryness associated with menopause, and can prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. There are various estrogen therapy options available, but patients often prefer a patch. Vivelle-Dot® patches are very small, convenient, and effective.

Some women may be concerned about the negative findings related to estrogen therapy from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study. You can discuss with your patients the risks associated with Vivelle-Dot, and review the symptoms and risk/benefit profile with them before making any therapy decisions.
