The First and Only ET Patch With DOT Matrix® Technology
Efficient Delivery With Excellent Adhesion
For over 10 years, Vivelle-Dot® has been the only transdermal estrogen therapy (ET) that utilizes the 3-layer design of Delivery Optimized Thermodynamics (DOT) Matrix® Technology
DOT Matrix® technology allows for:
- Avoidance of first-pass hepatic metabolism. This does not imply differences in safety or efficacy
- The smallest, most discreet ET patch available that takes seconds to apply and remove
- In clinical trials, a low incidence of skin irritation (<4%)
- A patch that stays in place when your patients bathe, swim, or exercise
The Transdermal Difference
The skin metabolizes estradiol only to a small extent. In contrast, orally administered estradiol is rapidly metabolized by the liver to estrone and its conjugates, giving rise to higher circulating levels of estrone than estradiol. Therefore, transdermal administration produces therapeutic plasma levels of estradiol with lower circulating levels of estrone and estrone conjugates and requires smaller total doses than oral therapy does.

- With Vivelle-Dot®, a continuous flow of bioidentical estradiol is delivered DIRECTLY through the skin into the bloodstream, avoiding the digestive tract and liver metabolism
- Oral ETs are digested in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract before reaching the liver for release into the bloodstream
Vivelle-Dot is the #1 Prescribed Brand-Name Bioidentical Estrogen Patch*
The estrogen in Vivelle-Dot is bioidentical to the hormone produced naturally by a woman’s body. Vivelle-Dot contains 17-beta estradiol, which is identical to one of the key forms of estrogen that a woman's body loses during menopause. For women interested in the source of estrogen in their therapy, the estrogen (estradiol) in Vivelle-Dot is chemically synthesized from a plant source. This does not imply differences in safety or efficacy
How Vivelle-Dot Is Applied
Vivelle-Dot is applied twice a week to the lower abdomen. Vivelle-Dot provides continuous, sustained release of estradiol directly into the bloodstream over 3½ days. Application and removal takes just seconds.
