About Vivelle-Dot®

Tell a colleague
Vivelle-Dot treats moderate to severe menopause symptoms and is offered in a range of dosage strengths.1 It is an estrogen-only treatment. Patients who have menopause symptoms, but still have a uterus, can try our CombiPatch® (estradiol/norethindrone acetate transdermal system) treatment or should take progestin with Vivelle-Dot to protect against uterine cancer.

Vivelle-Dot is the smallest estrogen therapy (ET) patch available.

Vivelle-Dot Features Include:

  • Proven relief of moderate to severe menopause symptoms and the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis1
  • Smaller total doses than pills. Transdermals achieve therapeutic levels with smaller doses compared to oral therapy. This does not imply improved safety or efficacy.
  • The smallest, barely visible estrogen patch available
  • Convenient dosing — twice a week
  • For women interested in the source of estrogen in their therapy, the estrogen in Vivelle-Dot (estradiol) is chemically synthesized from a plant source. This does not mean that Vivelle-Dot is safer or more effective than other hormone therapies.

Small Size and Wearability

Vivelle-Dot is the smallest estrogen therapy patch available today for treatment of moderate to severe menopause symptoms. The 0.05 mg/day patch is the size of a standard postage stamp.

Vivelle-Dot is designed to feel natural — even in the swimming pool — without coming off.

Why Choose Larger Total Doses Than Your Patients Need? When Smaller Will Do.

The skin metabolizes this estradiol only to a small extent. In contrast, orally administered estradiol is rapidly metabolized by the liver to estrone and its conjugates, giving rise to higher circulating levels of estrone to estradiol. Therefore, transdermal administration produces therapeutic levels of estradiol with lower circulating levels of estrone and estrone conjugates and requires smaller total doses than does oral therapy. This does not imply increased safety or efficacy.

Advanced System for Estrogen Delivery

Vivelle-Dot was created using the patented DOT Matrix® delivery system. DOT Matrix technology allows Vivelle-Dot to be the smallest estrogen therapy patch available. Vivelle-Dot is capable of maintaining predictable and effective estrogen delivery for the relief of moderate to severe menopause symptoms and the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis.1 Vivelle-Dot provides estradiol, which is the primary form of estrogen produced by the ovaries.

Why Patients Like Vivelle-Dot

Vivelle-Dot has been shown to have a low incidence of side effects.

Women need only apply the Vivelle-Dot patch twice a week for proper dosing and effective relief of their moderate to severe menopause symptoms and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis.1

Vivelle-Dot is a tiny, thin, translucent patch. Women apply the inconspicuous patch on the skin of the lower abdomen.

For women who are interested in the source of the estrogen in their therapy, the estrogen in Vivelle-Dot (estradiol) is chemically synthesized from a plant source. This does not mean that Vivelle-Dot is safer or more effective than other hormone therapies.

Most Common Side Effects

In clinical trials with Vivelle, the most common side effects were headache, breast tenderness, and back pain.
