Sex After Menopause Can Be Enjoyable
Many women enjoy sex during menopause more than any other time in life. There’s no
more risk of pregnancy and children are, for the most part, grown and out of
the house. Still, certain menopause symptoms could affect
sexual intercourse. The good news is that these symptoms of menopause are treatable.1
Over time, the lack of estrogen reduces vaginal lubrication, which can make
sexual intercourse painful and possibly cause vaginal irritation.
Over-the-counter lubricants can help make sex more enjoyable during and after menopause. In addition,
estrogen therapy (ET) can help relieve moderate to severe
vaginal dryness. If you use Vivelle-Dot only to treat your dryness, itching,
and burning in and around your vagina, talk with your healthcare professional
about whether a different treatment or medicine without estrogens might be
better for you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more information about menopause treatment options.
